[TECH NEWS] MICROSOFT HOLOLENS TAGGED AS "THE FUTURE TECHNOLOGY"
Microsoft HoloLens: What is HoloLens?
HoloLens is Microsoft's first entry into the virtual and augmented reality marketplace. The headset's transparent visor projects digital constructs onto your real-world field of view. You can then examine and interact with digitized objects as if they were in the room.
This technology brings a wealth of possibilities that Microsoft hopes will catapult its device to the top of the VR heap.
Microsoft HoloLens: Specs and Hardware
- Screen
- Processor
Another major development touted by Intel is Cherry Trail's RealSense gesture control. This technology supposedly allows an expansive range of handsfree control mechanics for interacting with tablets, and it's not difficult to imagine HoloLens potentially incorporating that framework.
Cherry Trail will also feature Intel's WiDi technology, which can stream movies, videos and apps from peripherals to larger external displays wirelessly. This feature could easily find its way into HoloLens, as a way to stream the user's view to an external screen for creative of entertainment purposes.
- Sensors
From the few images of the device that have been released, we can also see that the visor incorporates at least four cameras. We wouldn't be surprised to discover that there's a whole battery of extra sensors under the hood either -- it's virtually guaranteed to feature the standard suite of gyroscopes, altimeters and accelerometers found in modern smartphones, as a minimum.
