MICROSOFT CREATES GLASSES THAT TELL THE EMOTIONS OF PEOPLE YOU LOOK AT
HoloLens is definitely an out of this world device, but it could take a while until it hits the market, so in the meantime, you might want to have a look at a new pair of glasses developed by Microsoft and which could guess the motions of the people you look at.
“Emotional states are computed based on the
behaviors and feedback provided to the wearer indicating computed
emotional states of the subject. During interactions, the device,
recognizes emotional states in subjects by comparing detected sensor
input against a database of human/primate gestures/expressions, posture,
and speech. Feedback is provided to the wearer after interpretation of
the sensor input,” the abstract section of the patent reads.
Basically, using the available sensors, the device
can scan the person you look at for any gesture and posture that might
help determine their emotion.
Microsoft gives the example of a woman who plays
with her hair during a date or during a business meeting, with the
system being capable of analyzing the surrounding factors and
determining that this gesture can indicate either friendliness or
boredom.
Needless to say, this device is still in concept
phase, so if it ever hits the market, expect it to happen sometime in
the next few years.
